Gifted students are those whose potential is distinctly above average in one or more of the following areas of ability at school - intellectual, creative, social and physical.
Our gifted and talented program provides these students with learning opportunities on top of the normal curriculum.
Gifted, Talented & Enrichment at South Sydney High School
At South Sydney High School we differentiate curriculum across all subject areas to cater for the individual learning styles and interests of our student population.
In adhering to best practice in gifted education, as outlined by the NSW Department of Education and Training, our school policy is based on the philosophy and strategies of the renowned gifted educator Francoys Gagne and his Differentiated Model of Giftedness and Talent.
In following Gagne's model we provide opportunities designed to enrich the learning of those who have particular strengths and aptitudes in various disciplines both within and beyond the classroom.
In 2013 a coordinator of Gifted and Talented programs was appointed to consolidate our school's policies; to further develop our ability to cater for members of our student population who demonstrate strong ability across individual or indeed a range of subject areas.
