Sport at SSHS

South Sydney High School has a proud tradition of sporting success and values its achievements in the sporting field. We are located in an area that gives us access to many sporting grounds and facilities within walking distance of the school.

Sport and physical activity is a valued and accepted part of our school's curriculum and at South Sydney we strongly believe it contributes to the development of the whole child. It provides a vehicle for social, physical, emotional and moral learning and is an important expression of our culture.

All students from Years 7 to 11 are required to participate in sport.

School Sport at South Sydney High School is on Monday for Years 7 and 8, and Wednesday for Years 9, 10 and 11.

Regional Sport Trials

Throughout the year there are trials for students to have the chance to represent the zone in various sports. The dates for these trials can be found at the School Sport Unit website, or students can check on the noticeboard outside of the Sports Office or Room B1.

The participation, enjoyment and skill development of our students is the corner-stone of the school sport/physical activity program. All our students take part in this program.

There are also opportunities to represent our school at inter-school sports competitions. As a NSW public school we benefit from the opportunities for shared activities and competitions with other schools; coordinated by school sport associations. For more details again refer to the School Sport Unit website.
