What is English?
English is the study of texts, novels, poems, films, advertisements, gestures, plays, multimedia and any other forms of communication between individuals and groups.
As a subject it enables students to use, understand, appreciate, reflect on and enjoy the English language in a variety of texts and to shape meaning in ways that are imaginative, interpretative, critical and powerful in their own writing.
