News » NSW Crystal Growing Competition Success!Last updated 2:16 PM on 10 August 2016
Students from South Sydney High School have participated in the Royal Australian Chemical Institute NSW Crystal Competition for a number of years. Students worked in groups using their laboratory skills to grow a crystal during Term 2 this year.
Crystals were judged on clarity, shape, smooth faces and straight and sharp edges.
This year we have achieved some outstanding results in this competition:
Zac Boufous and Jessica Hausman were awarded second place in the 7&8 Division.
Miya Thronton and Ketti Ketmontri were also awarded second place in the Open Division.
These crystals will now be entered in the National Competition.
Twenty crystals were Highly Commended.
Congratulations to all the students who participated.
Thank you to Ms Corlija for co-ordinating the competition and for her guidance and expertise throughout the crystal growing process.
