The Number Crunchers Cluster Final, a year 6,7 competition for mathematical excellence among schools in our region was held on Thursday 10 October. The purpose of this competition was to find three outstanding maths students who will go on to represent our cluster at the State Final to be held at the Powerhouse Museum.
Teams made up of students from the following schools took place in this competition: Kensington PS, Banksmeadow PS, Randwick PS, Daceyville PS, Alexandria Park Community School, Gardeners' Road PS as well as our own South Sydney HS. The competition was managed by Aine de Paor, our Co-ordinator of Gifted and Talented Programs at South Sydney as well as Ms Deirdre Bacon, Head of Mathematics who was Quizmaster.
Those who made the final team were given finalist certificates and thanked for their valiant efforts on 10 October : Ketti Ketmontri, Claudio Albornoz, Jonah Walker, Syahmi Mohd Nasir and Jefferson Liauw who was our representative in the Rubik's Cube event. Special congratulations and an iTunes voucher were reserved for Jaeyong Sim who as a Cluster Finalist will not only be representing our school but also our region in the State Finals at the Powerhouse Museum.
