Success in the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) NSW Crystal Growing Competition!
We are very pleased to announce some excellent results in this year's Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) NSW Crystal Growing Competition. The aim of the competition is to grow the best possible crystal in six weeks and our students were competing against students from 26 other schools (including non-government schools).
We are very pleased to announce that not 1 but 2 Year 8 teams achieved top 3 positions in this competition!
1st place winners are: Liam Mungovan, Alex Zhao and William Eather
3rd place winners are: Hayden Hayes, Matthew Sanders and Dashiell Warren
We also received news of some other team crystals that were Highly Commended (awarded to those students whose crystals narrowly missed a place in one of the top three positions). These students are Matt Wong, Hope Winters, Linh Huynh, Zak Boufous, Noah Hockey, Emelia Adams-Del Pilar, Hayden Hayes, Matthew Sanders and Dashiell Warren.
Congratulations to all winners and participants. It was fantastic to see the enthusiasm that students showed for this task. They enjoyed this hands on activity very much as they applied their laboratory skills to growing crystal clear crystals. We look forward to entering the competition again next year.
